HeART of Gaza : Schools Workshop, Monday 3rd March, 10am -12pm and 1pm-3pm, FREE
HeArt of Gaza is a collaboration between Irish architect, Féile Butler (Sligo), and Palestinian community worker, Mohammed Timraz (Deir al Balah, Gaza).
Where they decided they had to put on an exhibition of children’s art from Gaza; giving the most voiceless, the most vulnerable, and the most impacted by this genocide a platform to communicate their experience with the world.
Workshops are hosted alongside the exhibitions, inviting members of the public to make art in response to HeArt of Gaza. It has also taken off globally, with over 35 shows around the world to date.
School workshops are facilitated by Féile Butler and are taking place on the 3rd of March. There are two available time slots to book for these workshops, 10am – 12pm, and 1pm – 3pm.
Here the students will have the opportunity to examine the artworks in depth. Rather than drawing generic symbols of solidarity, such as Palestinian flags, doves or rainbows, the students will be encouraged to engage with a particular child, artwork or theme from the exhibition.
Thanks to the success of the project, the Palestinian team have built The Artists Tent in Deir al Balah, in the very heart of Gaza, a space dedicated to running children’s art workshops providing desperately needed respite from their unbearable living nightmare.
